It is a cold, wet day: great quilting weather! This morning I finished my quilt top, the first major sewing project I have ever attempted. I am so excited to have done this and have learnt a lot from the process.
The finished quilt will measure about 4 ft by 5 ft. The next step is to choose binding and backing fabrics and buy cotton batting for the filling.

Well done Kate. That's great and so pretty.
Oh lovely! It's an inspiration to all us non-quilters.
OHMIGOSH... great effort Kate... I'm in awe! Must schedule a basting date soon. I'll find out where my sister gets the quality natural fibre batting online.
It's wonderful! Such a happy surprise to open up the page and see a beautiful quilt top. What great choices in the colors and settings. That's a very striking quilt.

It looks lovely!
Looks lovely Kate!!
I'll be posting pictures of my latest quilt soon!
Thank you all so much for your lovely comments. If anything the quilt looks a little faded in these pictures, I think caused by the grey winter light coming through the window. This has been such a confidence booster for me and I am already thinking about other sewing projects I might try when the quilt is done.
Beautiful! I knew it would be great!

Your quilt is so pretty! Awesome job AND a difficult pattern for new quilter! If you ever come to Modesto, California, we have several wonderful quilt shops here and in towns close by. You would have so much fun! Keep up the great work!! xo, Becky at Cottage*Dreams (eBay)
