I have so much mint in the garden at the moment.
I know most people keep mint in pots to stop it spreading, but I don't mind having it as a ground cover. It keeps the weeds out and smells nice when stepped on. It grows beneath our lemon tree and is clearly very happy there.
This is peppermint. It has deep green, very crinkly leaves.
And this is spearmint. Its leaves are narrower and more elongated and they are slightly less crinkly than peppermint.
Today I made a batch of Moroccan Mint Iced Tea. I am not usually a tea drinker but I like this because it is not too sweet and is very refreshing. You could add extra sugar if you prefer.
Stand 10 minutes; strain.
Serve chilled with extra mint and ice.
The recipe comes from Cook: How to Cook Absolutely Everything ("Australian Women's Weekly")

Moroccan Mint Iced Tea
Combine 3 teabags, 1 cup fresh mint leaves (I used peppermint), 4 cups boiling water, and 2 tablespoons sugar in a large jug.
Stand 10 minutes; strain.
Serve chilled with extra mint and ice.

The tea sounds delish, have never managed to successfully make iced tea...might have to give this a go.
Ummmm, that sounds so good. When I was little, my mom grew peppermint and I loved it! I need to plant some!

Oh, this tea sounds so good. I have mint in the flower bed but not as much as you have. We have never had spearmint growing anywhere I have lived.
Thanks for your nice comments on my blog.
Thanks for tagging me, I will have to think really hard and long for these things. Stay tuned, I will be posting something soon.
I don't grow any type of mint anymore, I did the right thing and planted it in it's own pot, but somehow it escaped and started growing where it shouldn't. What a disaster!
Oh I love spearmint! Yummmy
Haha! Bubblegum tea, that's cute! I like Mint in food and drinks, this sounds lovely. Will have to try.
