We had a home-made, heart shaped, pink ice cream cake. (What more could any young girl want?)
Pretty hydrangeas from the garden for a centrepiece.
Lots of fun splashing around in the pool.

Home-made cupcakes, yellow and pink.

A table laid with my best tablecloth and pretty, rosy placemats for six lovely young girls.
My daughter mixed vanilla ice cream with chopped Tim Tams and honeycomb bars. We froze the ice-cream mixture in a plastic-wrap lined, heart-shaped, cake tin overnight. This morning we whipped cream with vanilla, pink colouring and icing (confectioner's) sugar, before decorating the cake with it. When the cake is frozen again the whipped cream becomes another layer of ice cream. The flowers on top of the cake are halved marshmallows and Smarties. Delicious.
Ice cream cakes are very popular for birthdays here at our red house. Here is another one, made for my son's ninth birthday in September.

I'm glad it went well. Love the ice cream cake. I might show that to my DD. She's talking about an ice cream cake for her birthday party and I happen to have a heart shaped cake tin.
The cake looks delicious. Glad they had a good time.
Everything is so pretty, especially the pink cake!
Thanks for the nice anniversary greeting you left on my blog!
Everything looks lovely, especially the ice cream cake and cupcakes. Happy b'day to your daughter.
Looks like a marvelous party! Everything is so perfect and girly. Isn't it amazing how quickly they all grow up? Many blessings to you and your family.

Your daughter is so blessed to have a mother who cares and loves her so much to prepare such a lovely party. I felt like I was back in England during teatime when I saw how you arranged the table. Well, I hope this is o.k. and I know you are a busy mom , but I put your name down on my blog to be meme'd. It is really easy and takes only a few minutes. Come visit and see how i did mine. Blessings, Rose
Beautiful cake and cupcakes.
What a lovely birthday!
Absolutely beautiful pictures! The cake and hydrangeas are wonderful.
Your blog was "eye candy" for me today, thanks!

What a great idea for a cake. I will certainly try this one.
You have done such a great job for your daughter's birthday party. Everything looks so yummy, especially the birthday cake.
Even though I would not consider myself an "ice cream" person, I love an ice cream cake. With a summer birthday, it works out nicely :0)
Happy Birthday!!
I love the cake. We made a snickers ice cream cake and man was it good. Will you make one for my birthday??
Love,
Julie
Everything looks so yummy. I was reading your ingredients for what you put in the cake and thought what in the world is a Tim Tam and Honeycomb...I'm guessing they are a type of candy bar? What neat, new things to learn from an Aussie Blogging friend.
This makes me wish I had been invited too!
Do you have a piping bag to get the icing so lovely?
The cakes are absolutely beautiful :)
Looks like a fun time was had by all! That cake looks delicious!!
Hi, again! Thanks for the get well wishes!

Happy belated birthday to your sweet little girl! I'm sorry I'm late in wishing her a happy birthday! The party looks like it was heaps of fun!

Thank you all for these sweet comments.
Kirstin, a Tim Tam is a famous, Australian, rectangular chocolate coated biscuit (cookie) with a soft filling. Honeycomb bars are crispy haneycomb logs covered in chocolate. Any chocolate biscuits and chocolate bars can be used to make an ice cream cake.
Kate, is there anything a Tim Tam cannot enhance? I've got a Jan & Feb birthday - what could be more practical than an ice cream cake? Thanks for the directions.
I love Tim Tams! I can only find them at Target, made by Pepperidge Farms. Did you use the plain chocolate ones or the ones with caramel.
Hi Suzy,
I think we used the plain ones. In Australia there are lots of types of Tim Tams (they're an Australian biscuit) but the original ones are our favourites.
