Poor Honey

Yesterday I told you about our little bantam Feather Brown who is sick and is living in a cardboard box in our laundry. She can barely walk now and we don't think she has much longer to live.

In contrast, Honey, our other bird has always been strong, active and healthy ... that is, until this afternoon.

My husband has left his old job and is at home now helping me get our house ready to sell. He spent most of the day gardening but came indoors for a quick cuppa this afternoon. While he was inside we heard a squawk and raced outdoors to find that two bull terriers had mauled Honey to death. It took less than a minute.

We are devastated.

We have high fences all around our property but the dogs entered our backyard through our open garage door. It is illegal around here to let dogs roam the streets. What if a baby or toddler had been left outside alone?

My husband is pretty sure he knows who owns these animals as he has seen them before. I rang the local council and they will contact the owners.

The council told us to take photos of the poor little chook, then we buried her in the garden.

Rest in peace, sweet little bird.

Oh no! Poor Honey. Is it possible that Feather Brown was also got at by the dogs? It could explain her illness? Is she any better today?

So Sorry about both your chickens. It's already such a stressful time to be moving, I hate moving personally. I hope and pray that you can find special time for each other and to say goodbye to friends as you move.

I'm so sorry that you lost Poor Honey...to dogs no less! That must of been very hard for you to bear.

I hope Feather Brown is doing better soon. Have you considered a vet?

You deserve a hug right now and here it is. Hugs,

Terrible news! It's so hard to loose an animal. It's amazing how much they become a part of our lives and how attached we get to them. Not exactly what you needed right now.
Here's hoping that you have a better day and that things start going more smoothly.

BIG HUGS to you Kate. I'm so sorry that this is all happening right now!

After your post yesterday I just wanted to hop in my car and come down there....but with the kids still home and an hours travel....well, I wish I was closer. Just know that my heart aches with you and I'm praying for you throughout the day as I think of you.

Oh Kate, sweetie I am sorry. I know you are probably feeling like everything is just on top of you already with this unexpected move, and now to have this with your darling little chooks too. My heart goes out to you and your family, I wish there was a way that I could help you with all you have to go through right now. What I can do though is send you a cyber hug and let you know that I have been praying for you and your precious family. I know this probably won't help much, but when things are feeling over whelming for me I just remember that there is a reason and a season for everything, and that God has it all planned out so just trust in, and lean on Him.
Hugs Kate...

I'm so sad for you and for that dear little pet. If my husband had been there, the dogs would have met the same fate. It's just so dangerous. RIP little honey.

Oh! That's so sad! I hope you're alright. I was surprised to find out that you're moving to Adelaide, I pray for all the best for you and your family, and for God to pave your way before you. You've been really busy and yet still blogging, thanks for sharing everything. And no, the photo of the building in my blog wasn't at UWA, it was in the city, I didn't see what it was though. It was one of the buildings in St. George's Terrace.

UGHGHGH!
Stuff like that makes me CRAZY. People need to tie up their pets or do something.
What an injustice to ya'll that those bad dogs did that to your beloved pet.
I always loved seeing your chickens they are SO pretty.
Were.
Sadly.

I hope Feather Brown hangs in there. Do you think she was attacked by those meanies as well??

My neighbor's little Jack Russel was attacked by another neighborhood person's "loose" Pit Bull a few months back and it locked onto his neck and flung him around like a rag doll...causing alot of damage to his little neck and body.

Expensive damage too....not counting the emotional damage to "Toby" and his family. But he lived and is now back to be crazy as ever. HA!

Do you think those Pit Bull's owners recompensed them though? Nope.

Hang in there.
I know this is SO stressful on top of your move.
