The Perfect Bath

Day at the Spa by Solomon
How I love to take a bath. The soap, the bubbles, the hot, hot water, all speak relaxation to me.

My perfect bath is fragrant, bubbly, and very, very full of almost-too-hot-to-bear water. The perfect accompaniment to the perfect bath is, in my opinion, a really easy-to-read novel, such as a Fannie Flagg. One just has to be careful not to drop it in, especially if it's a library book.

Unfortunately, my city is in drought and long baths are ill-advised. Even showers should be limited to 4 minutes only.

One of these days, I will live somewhere where water is bountiful, and then the bubbles and the hot, hot water will be mine once more.

Some say the only place to eat a mango is in a bath. Cleopatra is said to have bathed in asses' milk.

What is your favourite way to enjoy a bath?

I'm the same - hot, radox, bubbles, candles and a good book. Of course, enough candle light to actually read! In summer, I adore cold baths. Unfortunately, we have high water restrictions as well so baths are maybe once a month.

On a slightly adult note, The Dutch Boy and I shared a bath on Saturday night and it was just blissful and relaxing. No funny business, no talking, just relaxing.

I love a hot, bubly bath too! I find no matter what stress I have it calms me and makes me happy.

I once dropped a library book in my bath. I took it back fully intending to pay for it as it was a bit wavy for the pages. They just laughed and said they are so glad I enjoyed the book.

I still read them in the bath but am VERY careful.

Enjoyed this post!

Oh, Kate, I feel for you. I too love baths especially at the end of a long day! I love to read a book or do a puzzle (soduko...or however it's spelled). You can come and visit me, I even have heated floors in the bathrooms.

My favourite way to enjoy a bath is to not get in. I'd rather climb into bed to read a good book.

I'm a shower girl...the quicker the better. Four minutes is a really loooonnnnggg shower for me. That would be washing hair, shaving legs and washing walls while I'm there too.

Oh! you have left me drooling, I'm in the same boat as you or should I say drought. Unfortunately the only bath I have is half buried in the yard near the house and I must say I have lost count of the times I have thought about digging it up,filling it up with water, lighting a fire underneath, putting up some sort of screen, lighting some candles, pouring in fragrance, sipping on wine and......I told you I was drooling :)

I agree with you, that there is nothing better than a hot, bubbly bath and good novel. :)

I no longer enjoy baths. While the idea is delicious, laying back in the tub puts unbearable pressure on my arthritis neck. Even a rolled up towel doesn't help. I really, really miss lovely, hot, bubbly soaks. A less than 3 minute shower, no matter how hot, just isn't the same.

Candle light, a little jazz in the i-pod, scented bubbles, a soft towel to lay my head on.....oh for a moment of bliss!
Hope all is well with you all.

With the jacuzzi jets on...I am aweful with a book, somehow it always manages to get damp...perhaps I need to turn down the jacuzzi jets?

sending a hug...love you Kate!
