A family movie night in winter just isn't complete without steaming cups of hot chocolate smothered in whipped cream and decorated with a fat marshmallow (or two). While sometimes I make hot cocoa the old-fashioned way; by heating milk, cocoa and sugar in a saucepan on the stove; this time we used Cadbury drinking chocolate and heated the cups in the microwave. The marshmallows are Savings brand from Coles, and despite being a generic, are bigger and fatter than the name-brand.
To lower my domestic goddess status even further, I have to confess that the whipped cream came from a can -- it tasted good, though.
What is your favourite hot winter drink?

yummmmmmy. Well even though you are not a domestic godest...you sure make using pre-made items look easy and yummy. Thanks for sharing.
What a cute blog! Your chocolate drinks looks pretty heavenly! I hope you are staying warm. I was in Australia last year about this time and we had unseasonably warm weather. We went to the beach and waded in the ocean! We rode on the ferry and I loved the wind in my face! Here in Denver, it was a lovely day - summer solstice!
I love hot chocolate in winter and another hot drink called chai. Very yummy. Have you heard of it.
The only way I've ever made hot chocolate is from the packages at the store. You're ahead of me in that department! Your drink looked yummy. Is it really winter there? What the temp.?
You asked what type of camera I have... It is a Panasonic DMC-FZ7. I LOVE it. It's a digital.
Thanks for the nice words on my blog. I appreciate it.

I love hot chocolate in winter, and my favourite is Haighs drinking chocolate flakes. Mmmm...
A warm cup of tea never goes amiss, either. :)

LOL Kate, I'm sinking right along with you!!!
My favourite winter drink is a mug of vanilla chai. Not made with tea leaves infusing the milk, but using the hot-chocolate style powder Dh sells. Ooohhh mmmmmm that is so good! In fact that might be on my menu for tomorrow...our milk gets delivered in the morning. We've just enough for two cups of tea right now LOL.
I love hot chocolate with marshmallows, but I skip the whipped cream.
Thanks for giving hope to one who avoids kitchens.
Hi Pom Pom and Elizabeth, you asked about winter weather in Adelaide. I am no expert as I have lived here less than a year, but most days seem to reach between about 10 and 18-20 degrees celsius -- which is quite mild. The nights can be quite cold and crisp but it doesn't get cold enough to snow.
Kate
Hello:
What i found most interesting was the shape of your marshmallow. Ours in US are cylinder shaped not a drop form and usually are white, colors are harder to find. I had to look at the pics twice to realize what it was! ha ha.
