Tell me, why can I not go to bed at night unless the bed is made? For example, if my husband has a siesta and the sheets are ruffled, I have to remake the bed before getting in, even though I know I am about to muss it up again.
Also, why do I feel the need to clean the kitchen before I start cooking the dinner? I can't work unless the benches are clear and the dishwasher stacked. However, I never really feel like doing the dishes after dinner.
When I have breakfast in the morning I like to have a clean table. I will wipe up any spilt milk or other messes left by the kids so that I can have an aesthetically pleasing space for my own breakfast -- even though it means having to clean up again after myself.
I'm nuts, I know.
Do you have any idiosyncrasies? Please tell me I am not alone!

I work in aged care as a field worker and to stop cross infection from home to home I am continuously washing my hands even though for some tasks I wear gloves.
I have found this continues at home
*pat the dog > wash hands
*put out the garbage > wash hands
*do a bit of gardening > wash hands
and I hate getting sand on my hands.
Ha Kate...
Mine must somehow be related to adoption ;-)
You are welcome at my home anytime...come with your sponge dear sweet friend!

If it was good enough to get out of it is good enough to get into... well that's what they say anyway.
My family constantly reminds me of my ocd habits that include no dishes in the sink when I go to bed, towels must be fold side out and I iron all pillowcases and tea towels. The list goes on but I will refrain lest your readers begin to fear the crazy lady with the rag full of bleach.
Lisa ;)
I have 'dishwasher' issues. Specifically, the cutlery has to all be in the right spots so you can just catch up all the knives and pop them into their spot in the drawer. Dh likes to frustrate my cutlery placement!!!!!
I do the same thing with my bed too. I need the sheets tucked in tightly before I get into bed, otherwise I can't sleep properly!
Thanks for sharing! It's nice to know that I'm not the only nut out there:-)

You know, idiosyncrasy sounds way better than how some of my habits get described. Such as always opening the computer applications I use each day in the same order, and if one accidentally gets shutdown, closing all of them so that I can restart them again in the right order.
I *used* to have idiosyncrasies...then I had kids!
As much as I'd like to keep everything neat, having kids killed every spark of the dream of a neat and tidy house I ever had.
Now I'm in a phase of just keeping everything from getting too crazy!
But my pet love is fresh sheets. Love that feeling of everything fresh and new on a bed. So I'm wish you in your pet love ;-)
I'm the same with the clean kitchen before I start to cook and cleaning up the messes on the table before I eat breakfast. I also like to clean as I go with anything I do, so when I decide that I've had enough and want to do something else I don't have to pack up/tidy up first.
cheers kate
I always have to have a made bed before I get in at night. I automatically make it in the morning, so it usually is ready. It feels fresher....go figure.
I do all those things too.
(Sigh)
We're both nuts!

Oh my, I do all of these same things too!! My husband calls me "Monk" from the TV show about the OCD detective. I *CANNOT* sleep on a wrinkle. All wrinkles must be smoothed. LOL
