Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. ~John Ruskin
Can I just say, here and now, that Mr John Ruskin obviously never lived through an Adelaide heatwave. A week of temperatures over 38 degrees celsius in spring is no joke and is far from delicious. Especially when your car air-conditioner dies after the car has spent 7 hours in the sun. And your house is hot. And your children are fretting, irritable and squabbling. And especially when the adults begin squabbling too because they are so, so hot.

We are up in Port Augusta and this week I have really felt the heat. I think it is more humid in Adelaide though.
Sorry to hear about your car air conditioner. Ours works better than the house one and I was thinking seriously of going for a long drive this afternoon just so I can sit in the cool.
I really pity you Adelaideans this week. We are in the lower South East and while the temps have been 32-38 and humid, it does cool down over night because we are near the coast. Mornings have even been 'crisp'. Our daughter is thankfully home from Adelaide on swat-vac this week so she has escaped the heatwave. I can only hope it doesn't go too far into next week without a reprieve for you.

Mum and Dad are in Adelaide, and have told me how hot it is already! Augh! And I'll be there too in less than a month, for Christmas and a music Summer School (Royal School of Church Music) at the Con.
I just hope it cools down soon, but in the meanwhile, eat lots of icy-poles, and stay cool!
It was 39 degrees here in the US - in Fahrenheit. Almost freezing in mid-November? Waaaaay too early. I could use a little heat right now.
We are 43C here tomorrow in Port Augusta, hot and dry heat. That will be 8 days straight over 40C.
I agree about the heat in Adelaide, it can be unbearable. You poor thing having no air conditioner in the car.
I kept our son home this week from school as we have put a pool in our back yard and that is just about a necessity in this town.
It's going to be a scorching Christmas pageant tomorrow morning!
Hope the car air-con is repaired soon!
It's yuck here in Melb, too, so I'm getting grumpy in sympathy with you ;)
I get cranky when the temperature gets over 30C, so I know I'd be grumpy right along with you if I was in Adelaide.
As it is, I've not been too much better for the mid-30's we've had here. The one good thing has been coming home and being able to cool the house quickly this year. What a blessing. But I'm wondering why only ONE classroom in our entire school is air conditioned?!
Thank you all for your sweet comments! It is still hot (39 today, 40 tomorrow, but I have my equilibrium back and feel less stressed by it all. My sweet husband took us all out for dinner the other night to an air-conditioned Chinese restaurant and that did a lot to restore my good mood.
For those South Australians and Victorians out there, I hope you are all coping with the heat.
Kate
