For those not familiar with recent events, let me provide a summary:
In July 2008 our family moved from Melbourne to Adelaide. We thought we would buy a house here quickly but in the end it took about 18 months to find and purchase our dream home. We were due to settle on the house on 15 March and had planned to move in the next day.
However, someone with a grievance against the seller listed a caveat against the house the Friday before settlement which meant that settlement did not proceed and we were unable to move as planned. This caveat was thrown out of of the Supreme Court last Friday and we thought our ordeal was over. Settlement was planned for early this morning.
Well, guess what - the (unspeakably horrible and malicious) person who listed the caveat has gone and listed another one. Even though listing a caveat against the same property twice is not allowed.
*#!!!!*$#!
And I don't usually swear!
This afternoon we signed a license to occupy which means that we can move in on Wednesday, but we won't own the property until the case goes before the courts again - hopefully before the end of the week.
What a month!

Bugger :(
You wouldn't read about it.. and I just did! lol!
How frustrating!!
All the best for the Wednesday move xx
Kate this is just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. You have to wonder how on earth this person managed to lodge another caveat when it's not supposed to be done.
Will keep praying. You keep hanging in there.

I couldn't believe my eyes tonight when I checked your blog again...and still this person persists...what planet are they on :(...
unbelieveably frustrating but I am sure common sense will prevail...all the best for the move on Wednesday..
and as for the caveat person...Karma...it comes back to you don't you know.

I'm still shaking my head after reading this one, yeah may that person become covered in warts, have a plague of locusts decend on them and an eternally running nose to drive them crazy. Still can't work out how they are allowed to do this again when it's actually not allowed (can you go to someone over this as I really thought they couldn't do it)
What a horribly nasty, vicious person to do this to both the vendor and yourselves :(
Hope things get sorted promptly and thoroughly, Kate.
Oh, no. Hang in there! What a nightmare.
what the......unbelievable......this person sure does have a grudge. Good luck with the move and lets hope this person gets a great big fat fine or something.
kate, I'm so sorry! That totally stinks! I can't believe some people sometimes! Ugghhh...I'll be praying for a speedy solution to this issue!
Since filing twice is not allowed, can you file a suit against that person? If not, maybe he/she needs a heavy fine levied against them.
Hope this is all over for you soon and you can settle in and enjoy your new home.
I have a feeling someone's in trouble, and it isn't you! Best wishes and keep your chin up!
Oh Kate! Some people are just ridiculously unreasonable! I am glad you all are getting to move in anyway, but I do hope this will be settle by weeks end and you all can enjoy your new home.
All the best,
Jennifer
