There's a children's story called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Everything seems to go wrong for poor little Alexander and he decides that he wants to move to Australia. The book ends with his mother's assurance that everyone has bad days, even people who live in Australia.
I can assure you that Alexander's mother is right. Things do go wrong for people in Australia.
This month has been one of the hardest I have ever lived through. It has truly been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad month.
Starting with Tom's accident on the 1st and continuing with the delayed settlement on our new house due to not one, but two caveats listed on it, life has felt awful indeed. There have been many sleepless nights, many mornings when I threw up before work from stress (and no, I'm not pregnant.)
Even moving day on Wednesday was difficult as the removal van broke down with all our goods on it, causing a delay of over an hour.
And yet, and yet there have been blessings too.
Tom is recovering well and is even able to ride a bike again.
We have a renewed realisation that family and health are much more important than material possessions.
We finally have a place in Adelaide that we can call home. The second caveat was thrown out of court on Wednesday and settlement went ahead yesterday without a hitch.
I am thankful more than I can say that all our prayers of the last month have been answered.
(I'm writing this on the library computer as I still don't have home internet, so no pictures just yet. They will come, I promise. We should be up and running by next Monday. Yay for Telstra - not!)

It's all worth it in the end. We had a lot of problems when buying our house, and ended up having to move in with my fiance's parents for three months until it got straightened out. But to have a permanent place to call your own after a period of living in other people's homes (rented or family) is a blessing in and of itself.
Thank goodness your house has finally settled, Now you will be able to enjoy it. Im really looking forward to seeing the photo's.

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes.
Tears of joy and relief for you and your family to have FINALLY moved into your new home. I'm SO excited for you and I can't wait to hear and see all about it when you finally get back to normal(ish).
Tears of compassion, because I have just ached for you as the house debacle has dragged on.
Tears of gratefulness that Tom is OK, that he's doing well and that his body is healing just the way it should.
Tears just because I know it's been such a terrible time and yet there's been little anyone could do to make it smoother for you.
I hope and pray that as you head into this weekend, and get on with unpacking, that you will be able to throw off that dark shroud and begin to see the fullness of God's blessings and that you will be able to see those blessings without that stress-filled filter over them.
Blessings on you and big hugs.
Wahoo you're in your house. How wonderful for this to happen for you finally. Its been a long time coming for you but now its time to throw the past memories out the door and itstime to build a wonderful future for all you.
hugs Deb
You know, sometimes, as the old quote says, things really are darkest before the dawn.
I hope, pray and believe that the dawn has come for you now, sending shafts of warmth, happiness and beauty into your new life together in your new home.

Oh we love the story of Alexander! I am sorry that it has been such a rough month on you, but now you can move ahead and enjoy everything. Wishing you the very best as you head into the weekend. I hope you settle in quickly and can begin turning this house into your home. So looking forward to seeing your pictures!
Sending big hugs your way,
Jennifer
I am glad the settlement finally went through. You poor things - so much trauma all in one month. Hey it can only get better from now on!
Just imagine one month from now, sitting down as a family, enjoying a lovely meal, a glass of wine, marvelling at the beautiful home you have purchased. If anything else goes wrong, pour another glass of wine!
Cheers - Joolz
Hello Kate
That is good news - now life can begin again
In a few weeks (maybe) you'll laugh at what you've been through and how you came out the end all in one piece
Take care
Cathy
Now I am really curious to see pictures of your new house. I wish you good luck in your new home! After a bad time, there's always sunshine (what's the correct expression in English?) .
Look on the bright side - things can only get better :)
I'm glad you're finally in!!
Thank goodness commonsense came to the fore and settlement is finalised.
Oh, that's so good to hear! Looking forward to the next lot of photos.
Kate, congratulations on finally being able to move into your new home
All the best to you and your family, and hopefully you will have very many years of happy memories in your new home
Cheers
Judy
