I am starting to think that this house is cursed (or maybe it's just me).
Yesterday I arranged for a man to come today and install a clothesline at the side of the house. The clothesline will be one of those fold-down ones supported by two metal poles that need concreting into the paving. Marcelo the handyman showed up on time, had a quick look at the job, then went off to buy cement. Twenty minutes later he rang to say that he cannot come back because he has had a car accident - fortunately he is not injured.

Today's photos are of our front sitting room.
One of the things that impressed me with this house is the previous owners' attention to detail. The colours and paintwork are done beautifully.

We will eventually put a picture or a mirror over the fireplace. The photo below looks from the sitting room through the dining room to the long central hallway.
Looking in the other direction towards the window we have put the piano and an antique card table. I'm going to have to work out what to do with all the pictures sitting on top of the piano.
Eventually we will buy two sofas for this room, one of which will be a sofa-bed, but that will have to wait a while.
And here is the view to the right of the window. The 1930s Rosenstingel sideboard belonged to one set of my husband's grandparents and the corner china cabinet belonged to the other.

Wow, that is an amazing house! It looks like your furnishings belong perfectly :o)
I'm loving it so far...and now that you live there, it's blessed!!!
I love the ceiling chandelier and the decorative whatever it's called above it.
It's so lovely! I can see why you picked this home for your family.I am so happy for you and hope no much unfortunate luck strikes.

Loads of character - love it! :)
Welcome home!
Oh my word, no wonder you fell in love with this house. And your furniture looks like the two were always meant to have been together.
Perhaps a little cliche and oft quoted, but nonetheless, Truth of the capital T variety:
"For I know the plans i have for your," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you".
Jeremiah 29:11-12
Remember to claim God's promises as your own...God has plans to prosper you ~ He wants you to come to Him, communicate the depths of your heart to Him. God is found in the dark places too. Indeed God has triumphed over the darkness.
Hugs Kate. May you know a precious joy that unfolds within you as you trust God and persevere through days that are just really tough. I hope this week is better than the previous ones.
Congrats on the new home. It is beautiful. I love those archways.
Can't wait to see more as you make this house your home :0)
A stunning home! Congratulations! :)
